Noninvasive | Cardiomemo / Event Monitor

This is a simple and quite painless test to monitor the rhythm of the heart, over a period of 2 days to two weeks. This test is important for the diagnosis of palpitations which occur infrequently. You will be fitted with a small recorder that hangs around the neck and is attached by two ECG leads connected to stickers (electrodes) on the chest. The recorder monitors the heart rhythm continously over the time it is on and if you notice any symptoms, you will be asked to press a button the device which marks and stores the recording.

The device will be put on in hospital by technicians and the equipment is almost unnoticeable under the clothes. You will be shown how to use it and will keep it for 1 to 2 weeks. During this time you will be able to bath, shower and carry on quite normally.

After the recording time is over, you will need to return to hospital to have the equipment removed. The recording is usually analyzed on the same day and the result is available within the nest 24 hours.
